Shared PDF through acrobat. Can we upload and update the PDF file to keep the comments intact?

Right now, we cannot update the PDF file by uploading the current shared PDF file so we can keep the comments.

 

I shared the same file with the same name thinking it would overwrite the old PDF file, but it just started a new shared file link and it did not keep the comments. 

 

I want to keep the revised comments with the updated PDF file so we can see the changes made.

 

Is there a way upload and change the shared PDF file and keep the same comments?

    Hi Yanwarc,

     

    We are sorry for the trouble and the experience. We have tried to upload the file with the same name and new comments to the document cloud and we are getting the option to replace the existing file and thus the new comments are getting updated to the uploaded PDF file.

     

    Would you mind sharing the workflow or steps you are doing to upload the file to the document cloud? Also is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try to upload a different PDF file and then make changes to the same file and try to upload the file again and check. If its a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing. Upload the file to the document cloud (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/) generate the link and share it with us.

    OK, so if I understand, I should open the shared PDF with the comments and change the pages in Acrobat? Would that be the better alternative?

     

    So far, I only saved the PDF with the same name to overwrite the old PDF, which does not keep the comments and I would have to reshare again.

     

    I will try opening the shared PDF and updating the pages in Acrobat and save there to see if it would update on the adobe cloud.

    Edit Update: So I remember when saving that it asks to save a copy for the comments. Then I have to share that file which does keep the comments but it still provides a new link and it does not keep the same link once saving over the shared file.

     

    Ex. I want the people that I share it with to use the same link to see the new revised file with their comments still intact, instead of providing them another link (but it does show their comments from the last shared PDF).

    I opened the shared PDF in Acrobat, replaced the pages and saved, it asked me to save a copy with the comments intact.     Can we change and update shared PDF to have them keep the same link and comments from the cloud?

    Hi there 

     

    We are sorry for the trouble. The workflow that you are trying to achieve is not yet available. 

     

    When we update the existing PDF file and share it on the cloud it acts as a new PDF file and it will generate a new link every time we try to share the file on the cloud. 

     

    You may use the Adobe wish form (https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html) to submit your request with the engineering team.
