How do I use the Surface pen to annotate pdfs, using Acrobat 9 Standard?

Or, is another version of Acrobat required, or another method? Obviously, it would be ideal if pdfs could be signed and notes provided directly in the Acrobat environment.

I would like to add that Acrobat 9 is quite an old version and incompatible with newer operating systems.
