Question

Will Adobe ever fix "Error 1327", or will it always remain broken?

It's been over a year of me researching, with no solid results and a lot of dead ends. I can find no solution to this error, and it seems there are many others in the same boat as me. We are a medical facility that uses mapped network drives where our encrypted data is stored, and these drives are located on every users computer. All users use a domain login, and local, not roaming profiles. Now, whenever we must install Adobe Reader OR the application auto-updates, we are presented with an error such as this:

Now, here is a link to the Adobe step-by-step guide that DOESN'T work for us:

Install error 1327 | "Invalid Drive" | CS4, CS5, Acrobat, Reader | Windows

and

"Error 1327 - Invalid Drive" when installing Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Adobe Creative Suite 3

and

"Error 1327 Invalid Drive" at installation requires System Registry update | Search | Autodesk Knowledge Network

We have two solutions currently we are mulling over. Either we disable automatic updates and suppress all notifications, leaving an broken unupdated piece of software on all of our PC's and hope there isn't a security flaw with the current version... OR, we just use a different product such as Foxit reader as it does not have these issues.

If anyone has any solutions that are not listed here, or if Adobe could actually try to work at this issue themselves, that would be great.
