Word-to-PDF Laserfiche Snapshot Issue

I currently work at an Accountancy office where we regularly use office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Laserfiche. Laserfiche is a repository program which we can digitally store our scanned or printed documents into our office database. When I print regular Word or PDF files, Laserfiche's snapshot program prints them very fast. But here is the unique situation:

When I create a Word document, and then convert/save it as a PDF file, and then I try to print a snapshot of that Word-to-PDF file using Laserfiche, the printing of that PDF file is very slow. I've tried contacting Laserfiche support, but their solutions did not help, and support is very expensive. My office believes it is an Adobe issue. What would cause a Word-to-PDF converted document to become slow in printing a digital snapshot using Laserfiche?

If you have any possible answers or solutions, please email me at [e-mail address removed by moderator].

Thank you and have a nice day.

This is an Adobe issue. We have over 400 Laserfiche users and all can print from Adobe to Laserfiche using the Snapshot printer. 1 user cannot. We've heard it can be very "slow" with some users on Laserfiche Answers reporting a 5 minute delay, but our 1 user does not even have a delay, simply never pops up the correct screen to populate. All of our other users, it is less than a second before the correct window comes up to populate. We have found a workaround by making the user open her PDF's in MS Edge and printing from there to the snapshot printer. That will have to do. Hopefully you found a real "fix" by now. Almost like Adobe is "blocking" the popup of the snapshot screen. And all her other apps work perfectly with this virtual printer. The only app that does not is Adobe.

I'm probably not gonna find a practical solution in this forum. I've already tried finding answers at Laserfiche support but their solutions didn't work. I'll be closing this forum. Thanks for your help, guys.

Sorry that we can’t be of help, but we‘re missing Laserfiche experience. so we can only guess.

I have no knowledge of Laserfiche, but is it possible that the PDF you are trying to print is image-based instead of a file with actual text?  Image-based/scanned PDFs will generally print more slowly than text-based ones.  Word would not normally produce an image-based PDF.  Can you tell us what technique you are using to convert your Word document to PDF?  Different methods yield different results.

My best,

Dave

The file starts as a Word Template, which I fill in a client's information. Once that's done, I "print" but save as a PDF. From there, printing that PDF using the Laserfiche snapshot takes a very long time for the printing window to come up, even for something only one page.

Guessing from what I read on Laserfiche Snapshot, you should be able to print from Word to Laserfiche Snapshot instead of first creating a PDF file.

Laserfiche Snapshot seams to be a virtual printer, transforming your document into a searchable TIFF file.

Are you using the "Save as PDF" feature from Word to create the PDF or are you using the Print option in Word and print to the Adobe PDF virtual printer?
