Zoom levels

I think this is probably quite simple but it has me a little confused.

I have a couple of documents that I have created using the following method.

Scan a document

Open as a pdf

Save the file properties to bookmark panel and page, single page and fit page

Save

Close document

Open document

Add new scanned pages

etc etc.

This has always resulted in every page of the document opening in 'fit page' however I navigate the document.

I got a new Mac this week and had to re-instal Acrobat (XI Pro), all but one of the documents behaves as it used to but one of them opens in a 'fit page' view but when I navigate to different pages many of them (but not all) open at 100%.

I can't figure out how to fix this.

Hi Steve.

If you visit the Document Properties dialog box, and click on the Initial View tab, you can set any PDFs initial view magnification as it is opened.  If you set it to Fit Page, for example (then save the file), it will always open at that magnification, and stay there until one changes the zoom.  In this setting, an 11X14 page, and a business card sized one will be in Fit Page mode, and fill up the view panel.

Whilst the document opens according to the zoom setting in document properties, when I navigate to a different page in the document it displays at 100%, it does not "stay there until one changes the zoom"

OK, that explains it. Bookmarks can have their own zoom level setting. Unless they are set as "Inherit Zoom" the view setting will change from the current one when you click them.


Yes, it does explain why they open ay 100%, it doesn't explain what happened though. If you follow my workflow from my opening post you'll find that the bookmarks get set to open to fit page, something changed these when I moved to a new Mac.
