I am trying to download an app that needs the adobe air installer. I have adobe air installed, but when I download the app I want I get an error message that the installer file is damaged and to get a new one from the author. Is adobe the author and how can I get a new one installed so I can download my app.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Terur
Is the air installer file corrupted or the app which you're trying to download has its installer file corrupted?
Please Refer : Adobe - Adobe AIR

Hi Maneep,
I really don't know which it is. I can only give you some information about it:
(1)Download & open the air file to begin installation.
(2) I hit download, this is what I get:
File: Comcast Caller ID.
Type: Application set up.

Mandeep, I'm sorry. I'm really messing this up. Did not know about no attachments.
Here's some info. File is Comcast caller ID, from Media 2.Comcast.net, Publisher is Comcast Cable Communications, App is Xfinity caller id.
This is the error message, "The app cannot be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the app author. Hope this helps you know which file is damaged.
Thanks again,
Terur

Hi Terur
From the above message it seems that the app which you're trying to download is corrupted. So you need to download the installer for that app again.
I don't think its the Adobe AIR which is causing it..
Try downloading the installer for the app again and try.
Let us know if you face any further issues.

Hi Mandeep,
I think your right. It's probably the Xfinity app that's corrupt. But I don't know how to install that. I assume it was already installed, but not by me. Comcast does not repair or do anything with computers, only with the speed.
They want me to call an outside person to repair it. But I would have to pay for it and I don't think I should because the caller id is in the contract. I think I may have to complain to the Utility Board to get results.
I sent some snips to Pat Willener. I hope you will see them. You have both been a help to me.
If you can help further, please let me know.
Thanks again,
Terur

Let's get some additional info:
Do you see this image when you start running the installer
Do you see this image after you click on the Install button
So I assume that you never get to this screen after you click Continue
Can you post a screenshot of the error you see: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933

operating system is windows vista 64 bit -- home premium with service pack 2.
air version is 15.0.
app name is xfinity caller id.
Sorry, I don't know the installer size. Tried to look for it, could not find it.
Did you get the snips?
After I click continue, I do not get the third screen.
Please let me know if you don't get the snips.
Thanks.

I do see my replies to you and the screen shots on the Adobe Air forum.
Also, after hitting continue, this is the exact message I get:
Sorry, an error has occured.
The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer from the application author.
I did not try to screen shot this one.
If I'm doing things that are not helping you help me, that's ok. I appreciate your trying to help and I thank you.

That really sounds that you'll need to download the installer again.
If you tell us the name of the installer, and its full size, we can help you better.

The installer is the Adobe Air. The size is 16.8mb. I already have that installed.
The adobe air is needed for the Xfinity pc caller id which is what I am trying to download. I think it's the xfinity file that is damaged.

The Adobe AIR installer (name AdobeAIRInstaller.exe) is indeed 16.8 MB. If it is installed, you shouldn't need to worry about it.
I think (as you do), the XFINITY installer is damaged. What is the installer name? What is the installer size you have.
The one I have I described in by post #8. If yours is different, you either downloaded it from a different source, or indeed the installer is damaged/truncated.

The installer name is Xfinity caller id. Publisher is Comcast Cable Communication Mgr.
The size of Xfinity caller id is 2.33MB or 2,447,184Bytes
If you can get to the adobe forums: HTTP://forums.adobe.com/message/7072695#70726951 you will see all my screen shots I thought I sent to you.
Hope this helps.

An AIR installer usually has a file extension of .air - yours doesn't have any extension, so I have no idea what it actually is.

P.S. or are you trying to install directly from http://xfinity.comcast.net/callerid/ ?
It would really help us if you told us from where you are trying to download / install that AIR app.

Is this a public application? If so, can you post a link to it?
