I have a user that is getting this error on his Surface Pro 2, if he logs into his laptop he does not get this message, both devices are using the same version of Acrobat.  I can't find a solution to resolve this for him.  He's trying to edit text, delete, re-type, etc..

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Hi mike_tech,

Let's start with the tips in this document and see if we get anywhere: Error | No available system font | Edit PDF text

If not, please let us know!

Best,
Sara

Thank you for the reply, that was the first thing I found and the user is not happy with that way and doesn't understand why it works fine on his Windows 7 Pro laptop and not the Surface Pro 2 tablet.

Does he have the same version of Windows on both? It sounds like he just doesn't have the same set of system fonts on both computers.

Hi Sara,

He has the same version of Acrobat on both computers.  How can I install more system fonts then?  Or do I need to re-install Acrobat?  I was thinking its due to a laptop and tablet difference.

Thanks

I think it's more of a system-level issue, and what fonts are available on each computer. So, make sure that the font he's using in the PDF is available on both his laptop and tablet. Reinstalling Acrobat won't buy you anything if he doesn't have that font on his tablet. Does that make sense?

Thank you Sara,

I bet the Surface Pro 2 doesn't have the same font, since its a tablet and compared to a laptop which would have more files installed than the tablet.  I'll have to figure out and how to get more fonts installed on his tablet.

I think you're absolutely right about that. I think you install fonts the same way on a Surface as you would on a laptop. I'm sure the Microsoft website will have some good info about that.

Best,

Sara

Hi Sara,

I found a good download of the exact font and installed it on his tablet and I had him test.  Success!!

Thank you again for your help with this.

Received same message as in title.

Followed your link : Error | No available system font | Edit PDF text

I tried doing the above but when I clicked ok I received the following error message: the change to a different font was not done because the chosen font and the fond encodings in the document differ and could not be resolved.

So I still can't edit the text.  What do I do?

Thanks!
