combining Word files in Acrobat Pro

I've had problems before with combining Word files in Acrobat Pro but this is a new one - when I drag in files the first page appears and the rest are blank.

When I try on the cloud version it works, but on my desktop app, they come in as blanks.

Can anyone help at all?
