Question

ExportPDF vs Acrobat XI Pro?

I am interested in subscribing to ExportPDF but have a few questions and concerns first.

I have bank statements in PDF format generated by the bank.  I use XI Pro (via CC) and tried exporting to Excel with no luck.  I run OCR, then export to Excel (or CSV format), but that renders single columns of info, combined columns of info, and other line break, tab issues.  When I export to "plain text" or a word doc, that does look better, but the rows and columns are not actually on the same line.  Therefore causing similar issues when importing that to Excel.

  1. Does the ExportPDF use improved OCR, or another technology, to remedy the problems I encounter with XI Pro?
  2. Can I try a sample somewhere first, before I purchase the subscription?
  3. Is there a discounted rate for CC users?
  4. If it doesn't work, do I get a full refund?

Thanks in advance!

JM

Hi INTYME1985,

The quality of a conversion (whether it be through ExportPDF or Acrobat), depends largely on how well the PDF is written. And that can vary greatly with third-party apps. If the PDF doesn't include the proper tagging for tables, it may not convert well. If the PDF doesn't convert well in Acrobat, I would expect the same results from ExportPDF.

Can you tell us what application created the PDF files that you're trying to convert? You can find out by choosing File > Properties in Acrobat, and looking at the Document tab.

Best,

Sara
