My Mac (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5) downloads the newest version of Adobe, it does not work. Why?

My Mac (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5) downloads the newest version of Adobe, but Adobe does not seem to be working, as I cannot download the pdf documents I need (and I get yet another message stating I need to download the newest version of Adobe). Everytime I try, I get a message saying it will not download. I have tried to download the newest Adobe version dozens of times. WHat is not working?

    ...of Adobe what ?  Adobe is the name of the company that literally offers hundreds of different software products, each of which has a specific name.  Unless you tell us what you downloaded, we have no idea what "does not work".
