Hey Jessicaw!

We're sorry for the trouble and for the delayed response. The record shows that you have an active subscription of Adobe PDFPack on your Adobe ID(email).

Try combining the PDF files through a browser like Chrome, or Firefox, or Safari using the URL Adobe Document Cloud and check.

For more information about the Adobe PDFPack, you may take help from the Adobe article Using Document Cloud Web apps and services | Adobe PDF Pack

If you are using the freeware Adobe Reader DC application and

Are you sure there is no security set in any one of them? You may not be asked for a password.

Hi, I am sure there is no security on the PDF files as those are documents that I scanned from paper.

Hi souravm,

As mentioned in the description above, you are facing issue when trying to combine files, are you combining files using Adobe Reader or a web browser?

If using a web browser, try combing it using Reader : Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions and check if that works.

You can also check if any security is set on the pdfs by opening the pdf in Reader >right-click > document properties > security

Also, try combining other pdf files and see if this behavior continues.

Thanks,

Shivam

Thanks for your response Shivam.

I initially tried from the Web Browser (tried IE, Firefox and Chrome all three)  and same thing.

As you suggested, tried from Adobe Reader DC, which is taking me online, not sure what I am missing here.

And as I stated above, there are no security to the files, as those are scanned PDF copies I created from some paper work.

All said, I came across another 3rd Party utility free of cost which can combine the same docs without any issues.

Then perhaps Adobe should reply with some helpful answers on how to get a product that I (and others) have paid for to work.  I have paid for a service that I can not use.  What is my other alternative?  If the poster was able to find one to help him and its legit, then why not help out someone also having the same issues.  It is not an advertisement, it's helping a fellow Adobe "user" some help getting work done.

Hi candacee,

As we have checked the account details using the email address you are logged into the forums, you have subscription for adobe pdf pack and perpetual license for acrobat 9.

Could you let us know the application you are using - adobe reader or adobe acrobat?

If using acrobat, have you tried combining files using a web browser at this link: https://cloud.acrobat.com/combinepdf  does that work?

I believe I am using Acrobat Reader DC.  The link you attached in your reply is a method I have tried.  After I select / add the files it just goes to a grayed out screen that I can not do anything in and have to completely close out the screen and keep trying, keep trying, and keep trying.

I used to be able to scan my documents, select them all, and right click to combine these files.  This is very frustrating.

I am having this same issue.  I paid for the PDF pack and the combine button is grayed out or somehow I can do it a different way, but the whole screen goes "gray".  I'm tempted to ask for my money back seeing as I have not been able to use the ONLY feature I need from this program.

Please help!

Ok, you need to use your copy of Acrobat 9, which is a much more powerful product altogether. Sounds as if you allowed a trial or upgrade of Acrobat Pro from version 9 to version "DC". Perhaps you have a Creative Cloud product? Stupid Creative Cloud app makes a habit of this.

Do I need to uninstall "DC" and then download Acrobat 9?

Perhaps. Maybe your copy of Acrobat 9 is still there. Check the START menu.

Thank you so much for your help.  Acrobat 9 standard is on my old computer.  I have tried looking for my serial number but can not find it on my old computer.

On my new computer I have uninstalled DC, and downloaded 9 standard but it is asking for a serial number.  I can not find it on my old computer.

You can locate the serial number for Acrobat 9 using the steps given here: Find your serial number

Also, would it be possible to share the screenshot of the issue with us? To share the screenshot here in the forums, refer to the steps given in this link: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7043#jive_content_id_How_do_I_attach_a_screenshot

Thanks,

Shivam

Be aware that Acrobat 9 is an old and unsupported version, and not compatible with any current operating system, so problems with it are to be expected.

Try combining the PDF files through a browser like Chrome, or Firefox, or Safari using the URL Adobe Document Cloud and check.

For more information about the Adobe PDFPack, you may take help from the Adobe article Using Document Cloud Web apps and services | Adobe PDF Pack

If you are using the freeware Adobe Reader DC application and trying to combine the PDF files and now experiencing the issue, then sign out from Adobe Reader, reboot the machine.

Launch Adobe Reader back, sign-in, then check for any pending updates from the help menu of Adobe Reader>then select check for updates.

Reboot the machine after installing the update and try combining the PDF files.

If you don't have Adobe Reader desktop application installed, you may download it from the URL Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If you experience any issue, try connecting the machine to a different network environment like a guest wireless network or a mobile hotspot and try combining the files again.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
