Video file support for premier Elements 12

When I try to open video files created with a Canon A560 digital camera in Premier Elements 12, I get a message "This type of file is not supported or required codec is not installed". The files are in the format "MVI_1234.AVI".

Where do I find and how do I install a codec so I can open these files in Premier Elements?
