Does anyone know if/how to set a maximum amount of characters allowed in a text box or restrict the amount of characters to the natural limits of the text box? (Alternatively, can a reader scroll through a long text box? Input seems to be unlimited but the reader cannot see what's outside the perimeter of the box...)
You can limit the number of characters if you create the form in Acrobat Pro. You can also have multi line fields, You can also have the field change the font size to fit more characters. Put you need Acrobat Pro to create these form fields.
You can edit the character limit for a text field inside of Adobe Sign by changing the validation type to String. This will allow you to set a maximum length for the field.

Hi daring_parent5D85,
Thank you for reaching out.
If you are preparing the form in Acrobat, use the following steps:
- Right-click on the text field and select "Properties".
- Select the Options tab in the properties window.
- There, you will see the option to set a limit for characters in the field.
Please check the screenshot below for reference:
Thanks,
Meenakshi

I need assistance please. I have set up drop down boxes in a field. I need a certain # of characters to be entered; however, there are NO options in the Properties TABs to do this. Under the "OPTIONS" tab, the options are : SORT, ALLOW USER TO ENTER CUSTOM TEXT; CHECK SPELLING; AND COMMIT SELECTED VALUE IMMEDIATELY. I have selected the "Allow User to enter custom Text" also. There are no options for allowing a certain # of characters on the Drop Down Box options (like there are for regular field options). Even the screen is different under the "Options" Tab. Any suggestion?

Hi @jmMDRS,
Hope you are doing well. Thanks for clarifying the requirements.
The feature you mentioned above is not available directly in Acrobat Sign.
I request you to please fill in the feature request form here: https://adobe.ly/3IALPk9 to ensure your feature request reaches the development team directly for review and future implementation.
Regards,
Souvik.
