digitally sign document already signed

Hey guys,

I've received a signed contract document from the client as the pdf. It's signed with a digital certificate on Adobe Pro. I also have the Adobe Pro, but I'm not able to sign from my end - also using digital sign / certificate option with Adobe Pro - the option is simply disable, I don't know what to do.

Bernd, is correct.  Once the document is signed, it cannot be changed. Therefore it is imperative that the person who sends a document requiring two signatures must provide two signature fields created for the form to be signed by the signatories.

You can't change a signed document.

Steve, I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and I signed a document and the next two people to sign it didn't have any trouble doing so.  However, the third person to sign was not able.  I realize now that I will need to create signature fields for each person signing next time.  I'm not sure why the third person is not able to sign when the other two didn't have any trouble signing.

I am the contractor. Why cant I go back and sign my part of the documenty after the client, when I am signed in to the Acrobat account, and then send a copy back to the client? This seems dumb. Do I then sign the document first and then request the client signature or send a request for sgnature to both me and the client? I wish they would have put some instructions or warnings up during the process.

In Acrobat Pro you can request signatures in order. Meaning you can send it to the client first and then it will come back to you to sign after.  Refer to this link for more information - Send documents for e-signatures, Adobe Acrobat

My workaround for this is to PRINT the PDF to CutePDF, which saves it to a folder as a PDF which I can then open and digitally sign.

Yes this is pretty neat! If using Microsoft Print to PDF works and then you can sign it. However, does the integrity of the original signs then remain? because you cannot validate those previous signatures then.

Doing it this way, there is no way to validate that the original person actually signed the document and that it has not been tapered with

The only work around is to print the originally signed document again to a pdf document and sent it for a new sign. The first sign will become just an image then.

My solution is to get PDF Expert, it only works on Apple products, I did, saved PDF in PDF Expert and no issues signing editing modifying. If Adobe can't make their software simple enough to use and not waste peoples valuable time. You just switch to the competitor that can save you valuable time and money.
