Husband and wife scenario. Need two different signatures but one email address to send to.

I have a situation where I need a signature from a husband and wife pair. They only have one email address. I've searched around and it looks like there was at one point a help article for this scenario, as I saw it linked in a forum post from 2019. But the link now just goes to a generic "how to set up a document for signature" article and does not address this scenario at all.

If you  just create two signature fields, when one signs, the signature is duplicated into the other field.

If you fill in the same email address twice, and specify the second instance of the same email address is to be used for the second signature field, only one signature field appears when they open the contract. If they click the link in the email a second time to open the contract a second time to try to enter the second signature, they are told that the document has already been signed.

So what's the solution to get two different signatures on one documents when you have only one email address to send it to?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay due to the weekend.

As you need to get the document signed by husband and wife by sending the document to a single email address, you may add the same email address as recipient 1 and recipient 2 on the send page.

Then ensure that you assign the form fields to recipient 1 and recipient 2 as required.

When the recipient will receive the email with the link, they will see only one form field that was assigned to recipient 1. After recipient 1 will fill the form fields assigned to him/her and click on the Submit button, they will receive a new email with a new link. It may take some time to receive the new email.

Ensure that they are opening the new email, not the old one. That is the only reason they get the message that the document has aleady been signed.

Let us know if you have any questions or need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

In this case, would the second signature field be signed as the first spouse or is there a way to change the name for the second signature, even though its being sent to the same email?

Add a text or name box for the second spouse and mark it for recipient 2.
