colorgrading off when uploading from one drive

New Here ,
Apr 02, 2025 Apr 02, 2025

Hey everyone

I'm pretty new to Adobe Express and not the most heavy user of the program as well, but I use it a lot for editing of my videos. I usually upload videos from my iPhone to the video editor, but since I'm switching phones I uploaded everything to OneDrive instead. The problem is: when I upload my videos and photos to OneDrive and want to import them from my desktop to Adobe Express, they all appear washed out and I cannot seem to fix that. I have looked up solutions on the internet but cannot seem to find one. Is this an Adobe Express bug? Or is it a problem with the iPhone to OneDrive upload?

Getting kind of nerveous since those videos and pics are a big part of my hobby.

Thank you to all to those have the magic answer!

The washed-out look is happening because Adobe Express doesn’t currently support HDR. When HDR videos are imported, they’re converted to SDR, which reduces the dynamic range and can make the colors appear less vibrant.

Hi @anton_9136,

We’re sorry you’re experiencing color issues in Adobe Express. This may be due to HDR content appearing washed out in an SDR workflow.

Check your video format – If recorded in HDR, convert to SDR using Adobe Premiere Pro (export with Rec. 709).

Re-export with correct settings – In Premiere Pro, set the sequence to Rec. 709 (SDR) and export in H.264.

Ensure proper file handling – Verify that imported files match Adobe Express’s expected color space.

If the issue persists, let us know your file format and settings—we’re happy to assist!

hey @mahmoud_5524

Thank you for replying. Yes all my video content is shot in HDR. The problem is that I do not use Adobe Premier Pro, and just Adobe Express as this is sufficient for my needs (and a 15 euro more membership is not really a possibility at the moment, and would not make sense to me). The colorwashing only happens in Adobe Express, I do not seem to have the same problems when I try to upload my files (photos and videos) to any of my social media, after downloading it again from OneDrive. Is there anther solution for this?

Kind regards!

Hi @anton_9136 ,

Thank you for your feedback!

To help us better understand the issue, please try the following:

Test with a short video (under 10 seconds) and see if it updates correctly.

Please note: You should see a message at the bottom of the screen indicating that HDR content takes longer to process. This delay is expected.

If the issue persists, feel free to reach out again — we’re happy to assist further!

Best regards,

hi @mahmoud_5524

So I've tried it with the shorter videos (under 10 seconds) and they upload correctly.  I also noticed that it does not matter wether the file came from OneDrive or my Macbook, whenever I select more than 1 video at a time (under 10 seconds), the washed out colorgrading seems to still be there. When I upload the same (under 10 seconds) videos one by one, the problem is fixed. I see the message about the HDR media when uploading a file.

I do not have this isue when I upload the same videos via my iPhone to the Adobe Express app. When I use the iPhone app, everything is always correclty uploaded.

I hope this helps!

Kind regards.

Hi @anton_9136,

Can you try waiting a bit longer to see if the issue is resolved? If not, close and reopen the document. If the problem continues and some specific steps or videos reproduce it, please share them so we can log a bug for the engineering team.

Hi @mahmoud_5524

Thank you for the quick follow up. I did try a single video of almost 30 seconds and it seems te be better when I wait, however there is still a washed out image, just not as bad as before. The uploading time of that 1 video of 30 seconds took about 3 mins as well, which is a lot longer than when I do it over the iPhone. I also tried a combination of a video of under 10 seconds and the same video of 30 seconds, but the washed out image (still better than before) now seems to be on both. I also tried downloading it as a 4k video to see if that would resolve the issue but unfortunately not. I added a screenshot of both recordings (from the macbook and from the 4k download) in which you can clearly see that one is less sharp and washed out. I hope this helps!
