hello, im trying to download my business card as a pdf for better print quality, however its saving it without the picture/background. the quality of the png is not great for printing
First of all, you can absolutely print a png, as long as you've set the size and resolution correctly.* The only issue would be the fonts that won't be embedded in a png (and would in a PDF) . The only thing (and it's the case for both file formats) is that the resolution and size (mm/in/ etc and resolution - dpi) must align with those asked for by the printer. Generally you can find it in the printer's website: For example here for MOO (other brands are available)
So if your PDF is set at 96 dpi, it won't help with the quality of the print 🙂
That said, maybe we'll need a bit more info for your specifc image problem... Did you get a error message? Was the image completely synced? See my test here. It works allright for me.
*The result is indeed a 300 dpi file (as indicated here when it's opened in Photoshop), and the PNG is downloaded as 96 dpi in Adobe Express, so it's a question of how the dev team decided to handle the different files formats in the app and not specific to the files formats themselves.
Yes, it's probably a bug, maybe localised to your browser? (I used Edge, I didn't try it in another browser). You're right as you cannot choose the DPI in Express (keep in mind it's designed to keep the jargon simple, so those options are reduced to a minimum, I wouldn't expect Express to replace Illustrator or InDesign for more advanced designers)
A few thing I would suggest before giving up: - delete the cookies in your browser
- test it an another browser (accepted browsers are Edge, Chrome, Safari) and see if it works in another browser
