Hi,

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. I have been building brand templates with restrictions including locking layers etc and adding them to the AE brand Library but when I go back to 'my stuff' and duplicate the template to create a different versions, its telling me its a controlled template and I can't edit it even though I'm the one that created and added the restrictions in the first place...

Hi, Is it possible to get an answer on this it's quite a big issue when you have shared so many templates to a brand folder and  its not only locking myself out of making any adjustments - as the creator within the brand folder templates but also in the original files themselves in 'My Stuff" - no one has the time to recreate and constantly make duplicates if simply hitting SHARE a restricted template, completely disables any editing capabilities of the template on the creators side

@RachelMata sorry your having difficulties here!

Can you clarify if you're duplicating the template itself or the original file you created the template from? If the former, then this is working as designed today (the duplicate will be a 1:1 of the template with all the same restrictions in place) and at the moment we don't support the ability to edit a template after it's been published (this is something we're actively working towards and hoping to enable soon!).

If the latter, that is not the expectation and sounds like a bug. I've tried this just now on my side and am unable to replicate. Would you be willing to schedule a call so we can take a look live? I'll reach out directly to coordinate if so.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply - it's happening when I duplicate the file from "My Stuff" when i open the file in question, it doesn't have the "controlled template msg' but when i duplicate it to create another version it blocks me from editing anything on the duplicated file as its become a "controlled template"

Glad to hear the editing rights in the templates are being worked on as at the moment when I publish a template to the brand folder it locks me out from making any adjustments required along the way even when i'm the author who restricted it, this means I have to go back to the original (if that lets me ) edit it there and republish the template and delete previous version which isn't a good experience.

Happy to jump on a call
