So this is really bothering me, and I have been playing around more with it. It seems that Adobe Express just isn't keyed to recognize greenscreen as the "background" of a video. Take for example this video from Adobe Stock - this is the first option that comes up when you search "green screen" in Express. It absolutely has no idea that the green area is supposed to be removed.

If you try any other video that DOESN'T have that chroma key color in it - just regular video with normal backgrounds

All you need to do is drop your video onto your workspace in Express, then click the Remove Background button in the video properties. If that doesn't work for you, please reply with a screenshot of your project and I can help further.

I had also believed that it should work like this, but the result is not as it should be

Ah I see, that is a strange outcome! Are you able to attach the file you're using so I can test and try to reproduce?

The problem is somehow always that I can't replace the green color. So nowhere "make what is green transparent". I'm looking for this function all the time.

If you take a green screen video and say remove background the result is always something like this. Unfortunately there is no manual or anything to read about this

Yeah, I know what you mean... Unfortunately with Express you don't have access to a lot of settings to tweak the outcome of these filters. It's designed to be user friendly, but the tradeoff is you have less control.

I just pulled a sample greenscreen footage I have and tested it out and I agree - I'm also not getting a smooth cutout. I have a big chunk of green still visible behind the character. Unfortunately I don't think there are any other tools to modify the selection in Express. For now if you have access to Rush or Premiere, you might want to give those a try as they will give you more control over this effect.

ITS most definitely got to be my one big gripe that turns me off every time I do an awful lot of work on here and sometimes well actually all the time I have to leave the platform and the studio to take my thing elsewhere to take the back out of it and then bring it back in it's something that stops my flow and it's also puts a couple of pounds on the workload and well it's a substantial amount of Hoops to jump through to try and use a feature that's pretty much hosted on everything and everywhere write down to you know ages four to six platforms it's given thing now it's almost like you know the at symbol on the keyboard it's just a thing it's not an app or a feature or an upgrade or anything it's remove the background I don't understand why but the thing that makes it really almost unacceptable is the stock that's provided with the service that is part of the package you pay for well it has the green screen in it which makes therefore the package that we're paying for the tools that come with it which are in the toolbox ie videos with green screen are unusable in several purpose so therefore the product that's being sold is not watered down but well missing things missing elements that are supposed to come with it because if you're giving certain tools but they don't work well you know that doesn't work and I don't understand why this flick of a switch can't be flicked I mean I'm no pancake expert but it's a pretty simple thing to insert into the sweet I'm sure no doubt considering you can get it on a I don't know a Child's Play app or whatever it's annoying I love everything else about it I spend eight hours a day on here I'd use it for my work and creative and stuff but I just don't know why they won't just insert it as opposed to watching it getting griped on and requested for months and months and months it's almost like there's been more energy and money and efficiency burned on repeatedly I haven't answered no then they just turning the thing on I don't get it it's the most ridiculous thing ever just turn on the green screen already,  done like I can understand if this was a year or two ago when it was a kind of a big deal and it was breakthrough but it's old news it's not a feature or an upgrade by any shape of the means it's a basic tool it's a chroma key that's it so if anybody from the design team or marketing or I don't know anyone with your ears on that's wearing team colors maybe run it by whoever said the big table that's saying no cuz somebody saying no the truth isn't the matter and the fact of all this is somewhere there's a person sitting in a chair living breathing somewhere that saying no you need to talk to that person and say yes cuz they're going to have you running back to them all day all day everyday so whoever's saying no I don't know the last thing you want somebody having to do is jump through so many hoops and leaving the actual platform to go do it elsewhere and then come back because I guarantee you some won't come back and and any industry no matter what it be rule of thumb 101 it's twice as hard to get somebody back after you've had them and lost them

Hi @Sven35597415ul8j - Hello @JessCampbell,

There is no "Chroma Key" effect in Express. Sorry about that. You can use the other tools to remove a background, however. Check out Premiere Pro, which has an effect called Ultra Key. If you like, you can preview it in a trial version of the app. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

It seems Adobe Express is not as robust as it is advertised as.  Unfortunately, it will not meet the needs of my students.  I had so hoped it would.

Hello there, @CELIA27899335r1uq,

Nice to hear from you and welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear that chroma key effects are a deal breaker for you and your students. You would need Premiere Pro to handle shots like that. I can definitely help you with Premiere Pro.

If you can workaround this one shortcoming, I'm sure your students would really enjoy Express. Let me know if you need any ideas. If not, we're here should you need us. Take care.

Cheers,
Kevin
