I've created a logo with font and an icon from Adobe Express.

I've been reading that it is a copyright issue to use anything from Adobe Express to claim as a logo. Am I not allowed to use icons from Adobe? Am I allowed to use a font from Adobe? Am I allowed not use anything at all for a logo?

Hi @Nathan Pineda,

Thank you for getting in touch, and we're sorry to hear you're having difficulties.

The following page has information about Adobe Stock licensing, including using Adobe Stock images within Adobe Express: https://stock.adobe.com/license-terms. Hopefully, this clarifies everything for you, but if not, we're still available to help.

Many Thanks,

Lyn 🙂

I have two additional questions:

1. Under the Adobe Express License, it states:

  • Incorporate the asset into merchandise or template files intended for sale or distribution unless the final project is an original work of authorship. For example, you can't use the asset to create a poster, t-shirt, or coffee mug that someone would buy specifically because of the asset printed on it.

Does this mean that I cannot sell merchandise that displays ONLY the asset? What does "original work of authorship" imply? If I create a design with font and an icon, is the final project considered an original work of authorship?

2. Suppose I create a product label using Adobe Express. Am I able to use that design/product label without infringing the license? Since the label is not the primary value of the product.

Hi @Nathan Pineda,

Thank you for reaching out.

If you are planning on merchandising products for resale or distribution, you would need the below license:

Extended licenses

With an Extended license, you may:

  • Use the asset with all the rights granted in the Standard license.
  • Reproduce the asset beyond the 500,000 copy/viewer restriction.
  • Create merchandise or products for resale or distribution where the main value of the product is associated with the asset itself, such as a coffee mug or t-shirt.

Many Thanks,

~Lyn 🙂
