create speaking parts with 2 characters cartoon from audio animate to adobe express

I am on a macpro.  I am using audio animate and adobe express.  I can create animated character and I can add the speaking or siging audio to it.  I know how to make background transparent to add into adobe express for editing.  I am trying to make 2 characters speak, one at a time.  See screenshot.  I got my 2 characters in adobe express but they arent speaking.  I can hear their audio song but their lips dont move.  I dont know if I should select "add as pages" or image?

This feature was designed only for one characters so creating multiple will be challenging. The only way I think it could be done would be to create separate videos for the characters and then merge them in a single video project. Complex video editing might be challenging in Adobe Express too.
