The new Adobe Express version is quite a disappointment in general (you've lost the clean, simple UI design approach that distinguished you from other apps), but I hope that future iterations will bring improvements. I use it every day.

Two things I missed immediately after starting to use it:

- Full shapes gallery (you removed it from the previous version for a little while, I understood from support that it'll be back in the version)

- Secondary text editing.

Please bring these back as soon as possible 🙏🙏🙏

I want to add a drop shadow to a text selection without applying it to the entire textbox. I used to be able to do this with the secondary text option. I can't do it with inline editing. I'd like to second the call for secondary text or ask you to please support ALL styles on subranges of text. I really miss this feature.

Hi @Stellar_Lionheart6519

Could you please upvote this general request https://adobeexpress.uservoice.com/forums/951181-adobe-express/suggestions/48208985-highlight-specific-text-within-a-text-box?

While it says "highlight", the limitation applies to shadow, shape, and outline (as noted abobe).

Thanks

Hi @Elsa36866893j902

Thanks for posting here: we do plan to make continual improvements based on feedback such as this!

Shapes: just wanted to make sure you have also looked at the "Icons" tab next to "Shapes". While even this collection may not be as large as the one you may be used to, it is larger than just Shapes. And we will keep expanding it.

Secondary style: since the new Express supports "inline" editing, you don't really need this mode. You can select any arbitrary range of text, change its color, font, font size etc. to achieve the same effect. In fact you can have multiple different styles within the same text object now! While that is very flexible, there are a few limitations:

  • automatic selection ranges (e.g. alternate words, alternate lines, first+last lines etc.)
  • a few text styes (shadow, shape, outline) are not supported on subranges of text

Hope this helps,

Abhi G

Thank you for your responses, Abhi.

I have looked everywhere, both places you mention as well, but many of the shapes in the previous version didn't make it into this version. I do hope that you will eventually bring back the full library. It serms wrong to remove something so valuable.

I do also understand what you are saying about not really needing inline text, except the selection method doesn't give one access to "Effects" and "Outline" and both those functions are very useful for creating emphasis in a block of text.
