Setting an image as background to a custom shape in Adobe Express

I came across this template searching for “grunge” and saw this flamingo with a clipping mask of starry sky. There are two layers.

I cannot for the life of me figure how it’s done. I’ve inspected both images to see what effects/opacity etc are applied but nothing.

 

If anyone wants to play search for “grunge flamingo”🦩 it comes up pretty early. If you figure out, post here!

To achieve this, you'd need to use the blend tools with the shape and the icons.

First, select the background you want and set it to Screen blend . Then, place the shapes or icons below the background layer. This will get you the desired results. Attached are some screenshots for reference.
