पुराने बंगले की "हँसती गुड़िया"

शहर के किनारे एक पुराना, वीरान बंगला था। मोहल्ले के बच्चे कहते थे कि वहाँ 'मिस्टी' नाम की एक पुरानी गुड़िया रहती है। एक शाम, आर्यन और उसके दोस्तों ने हिम्मत दिखाई और उस बंगले के टूटे हुए दरवाज़े से अंदर झाँका।

जैसे ही वे अंदर गए, दरवाज़ा ज़ोर से अपने आप बंद हो गया— "धड़ाम!"

अजीब आहटें

पूरे घर में धूल जमी थी और हवा में एक ठंडी सिहरन थी। अचानक, ऊपर वाली मंज़िल से किसी के दौड़ने की आवाज़ आई। आर्यन ने ऊपर देखा, तो सीढ़ियों के पास एक छोटी सी लकड़ी की कुर्सी अपने आप हिल रही थी।

तभी उन्हें एक धीमी आवाज़ सुनाई दी:

"क्या तुम मेरे साथ छुपम-छुपाई खेलोगे?"

अंधेरे में चमकती आँखें

वे आवाज़ का पीछा करते हुए एक अंधेरे कमरे में पहुँचे। वहाँ एक पुरानी अलमारी के ऊपर एक गुड़िया बैठी थी। उसकी आँखें कांच की थीं, जो अंधेरे में चमक रही थीं। आर्यन ने जैसे ही उसे छुआ, गुड़िया का सिर 360 डिग्री घूम गया और वह ज़ोर-ज़ोर से हँसने लगी।

सारे बच्चे डर के मारे बाहर की तरफ भागे। आर्यन ने पीछे मुड़कर देखा तो गुड़िया अब खिड़की पर खड़ी होकर उन्हें हाथ हिला (wave) रही थी।

एक ज़रूरी बात: जब आर्यन घर पहुँचा और उसने अपने बैग की ज़िप खोली, तो उसने देखा कि उसके बैग के अंदर वही पुरानी गुड़िया बैठी थी और वह अभी भी मुस्कुरा रही थी!

क्या आप जानना चाहेंगे कि आर्यन ने उस गुड़िया काआर्यन का दिल जोर-जोर से धड़कने लगा। वह चीखना चाहता था, लेकिन उसके गले से आवाज ही नहीं निकली।

बैग का रहस्य

जैसे ही आर्यन ने गुड़िया को बैग से बाहर निकालने की कोशिश की, गुड़िया ने उसका हाथ कसकर पकड़ लिया! आर्यन ने झटके से अपना हाथ छुड़ाया और बैग को ज़मीन पर फेंक दिया। ताज्जुब की बात यह थी कि जब बैग गिरा, तो उसमें से गुड़िया की जगह सिर्फ एक पुरानी चिट्ठी निकली।

उस चिट्ठी पर लिखा था:

"मैं सिर्फ बोर हो रही थी। क्या कल फिर खेलने आओगे?"

आधी रात का खेल

आर्यन उस रात सो नहीं पाया। उसे महसूस हो रहा था कि उसके बिस्तर के नीचे से कोई खुरचने की आवाज़ आ रही है— "चर्र... चर्र..."। उसने हिम्मत जुटाकर नीचे झाँका, तो वहाँ कोई नहीं था। लेकिन जब वह वापस ऊपर लेटा, तो उसने देखा कि उसके कमरे की खिड़की के धूल भरे शीशे पर किसी ने अपनी उंगलियों से एक 'स्माइली फेस' बनाया हुआ था।

कहानी का अंत?

अगले दिन, आर्यन ने तय किया कि वह उस गुड़िया को वापस बंगले में छोड़ आएगा। वह दौड़ता हुआ पुराने बंगले पहुँचा और उस कमरे में गया जहाँ उसने पहली बार गुड़िया देखी थी।

वहाँ पहुँचते ही उसने देखा कि अलमारी पर वैसी ही दस और गुड़िया बैठी थीं और उन सबके हाथों में आर्यन की ही कोई न कोई चीज़ थी—किसी के पास उसकी पेंसिल, किसी के पास उसका रूमाल और सबसे बीच वाली गुड़िया के पास आर्यन की घर की चाबियाँ थीं!

तभी पीछे से दरवाज़ा बंद हुआ और आवाज़ आई:

"खेल तो अभी शुरू हुआ है..." क्या किया?
