We invite you to take part in our Fantasy Creature Art Challenge! Unleash your imagination and design a unique fantasy creature with all its magical charm. Create a detailed illustration showcasing its physical traits—size, color, texture, and special features like wings or horns. Place it in a fitting environment that enhances its design, whether it's a mystical forest, a desert, or an underwater realm. 

The prompt I used in Firefly- create a white dragon with large wings, and flying on the sky.

I clicked Download to download the image to my computer.

What to Submit: 

• Your Images: Images of your fantasy creature
• Your Prompt: Share the text prompt you used for your creation.
  
  

Submission Deadline: 

• Please submit your creations by Aug 11 , 2024, 12:00 AM PT (GMT+7). 

How to Participate 

1/ Create Your Image: 

• Launch Adobe Firefly and select the Text to Image feature. 
• Create a prompt and generate your image. Need ideas? Visit the community tab for inspiration, or ask here for ideas. 
   

2/ Capture Your Creation: 

• Once satisfied with your image, hover over it and click “Share” at the top right corner. 
• Select “Copy image” from the drop-down menu. 
   

3/ Submit Your Entry: 

• Come back to this thread, click “Reply,” paste your image, and describe the prompt you used. 
• Hit “Post” to submit your entry.

Distant angry creature the size of a mountain, blue eyes and volcanic mouth, emerging from the ground, looks down at the city. Storm clouds overhead. Dark mountains behind. Cinematic long shot. (Plus selected "Photo," "Chaotic," and "Hyper realistic.")

Note the resemblance to a gorilla. It turns out that Firefly can remix its training data but can't stray far beyond it, if at all. Three-eyed granite monster? Not possible. Serpent with three heads? Not possible. Elephant with two trunks that are actually snakes? That's possible, especially when what you asked for is an elephant and a python.

It was an interesting exercise in probing the limits of diffusion models like Firefly. It's been clear for some time that you can't get anything sensible from a Large Language Model if you probe beyond its training data, but I hadn't experimented with any of the diffusion models.

GenAI, contrary to the hype, is not able to be creative. Firefly fails spectacularly when you ask for things outside the boundary of its training data and/or that require comprehension of a general concept like "hand." Its aliens are all of a type familiar for decades, it can't put three different animals in an image without getting their parts mixed up, and we all know about the "wrong number of fingers" problem. As far as I can tell, the same applies to Dall-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, but I don't have the available noodling time to delve into them as deeply.

People can use genAI in creative ways, but there's no innovation or originality coming from the AI itself.

So I tried this weeks challenge and I got this. Not exactly what I wrote down. technically male gryphons don't feature visible wings as like females but wings are usually featured as lightning bolts. I imagined the lightning bolts as a mating ritual to attract the female of the species. This one lives in a rain forest type of environment that also features tall rocky cliffs with hidden caves. A perfect erie hide out for gryphons.

And the back legs are missing too. Go figure. LOL😄

I tried to make a small cousin of this version. A small parrot like creature but the AI is still not as smart enough for that kind of prompt.  😁
