Can I disable Adobe Fonts

Community Expert ,
Apr 23, 2023 Apr 23, 2023

I used to be able to turn off Adobe Fonts in the CC preferences, but it seems that is no longer an option.

I prefer to use the fonts I have installed locally, thanks very much, but now Adobe has decided that I should be using the fonts in the cloud. If I open a file that contains a font I don't have activated in my font manager, Adobe Fonts helpfully activates the cloud version. It doesn't even ask, it just does it and then tells me it's been activated. So I have to deactivate it so I can activate my locally installed font.

I'm having other font problems, but this is the most vexing.

It's always useful to tell the other users how you did it! 🙂

the way I like best is going to the CC app

choose "manage fonts" in the left panel:

Then go to active fonts and deactivate them as you wish by going to active fonts.

You can even reactivate previously deactivated ones by going to "previously active" and re-activate from there.

Obviously you can also go directly on Adobe fonts:

and go to manage fonts

Hope it helps!

I didn't want to just deactivate fonts, I wanted to completely disable Adobe Fonts because I prefer to use my locally installed fonts.

Here is how I did it:

In the CC App, go to Preferences > Services

Sorry I misunderstood you, I should have paid attention to the capitalised F in Adobe fonts 🙂
Glad you found the solution!

This has been driving me nuts for so long...  We use Extensis Connect, and Adobe Fonts auto install always ended up corrupting and disrupting everything we did where Adobe had their version of a font with the same name. So frustrating! Thank you!!

I'm having the same problem but confused how to disable the Adobe Fonts. Do you go to InDesign on your computer or Adobe Creative Cloud on the web? I can't seem to find Preferences > Services

Hi Berniec3700,

You need to do this in your Creative Cloud App.

These screen shots are from my Mac. If you need Windows, let me know.

On the Home screen in your Creative Cloud app, click on your profile icon in the upper right-hand corner.

Choose Preferences

Choose Preferences

Choose Services from the list on the left. This is where you can enable/disable Adobe Fonts.

I hope this helps.

Hi @berniec3700,

In addition to @tonks_the_auror , for Windows, please check the screenshot below, and try the steps suggested above to disable and enable-

I'm on a Mac. The only thing I can change when I click on Preferences is the language and the color theme. There is no option for Services.
