Downloading Fonts

How do you download Adobe fonts? I've been staring at https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/philosopher for an hour, clicking everything that you can click, and I can't figure out how to download anything.

Do you see the button that says Add Family meaning all the fonts in Philosopher family or Add Font?

Even if your not signed in with your Adobe account there should be an Add Family button somewhere on the page and that's the way you download the fonts for use with your Adobe applications.

If you have a trial subscription, you are limited to the Basic library of approximately 1500 typefaces. "Philosopher" may not be included.

According to Adobe Fonts, it looks like Philospher is available via an open source license:

Every typeface from Google that is hosted on the Adobe Fonts service can also be downloaded at the Google Fonts website. In some cases the Google Fonts website has more options.

Weird, it doesn't have the Add Family when I view the page. There is an Add Font option, but it's only available for fonts that are similar to Philosopher. However, I was able to download this font somewhere else. Thanks.

Make sure that you've downloaded the Creative Cloud Desktop Application and have signed in. You can access fonts with a Trial subscription:

Technically any fonts added via the Adobe Fonts service are not downloaded. Instead they're synced. The font files are hidden from file management tools such as Windows File Explorer or the Finder in OSX. The fonts have to be "added" first in order to be visible to Adobe applications. Then the fonts have to be "installed" using the Creative Cloud desktop app in order to be visible to any applications installed in the computer.

Hi, QQ: I am using the Brandon font for a design - it shows in the CC desktop, but when I go to package the file the font shows up as missing. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Do you mean Brandon Grotesque? If you added that type family via the Adobe Fonts service those font files can't be saved as individual font files to store in something like an InDesign package. An alternative would be saving a copy of the document as a PDF meant for print purposes. Font data from synced Adobe Fonts can be embedded into PDF files.

If you're sending native files from InDesign or Illustrator to someone else who uses those applications they can automatically activate the same Adobe Fonts on their end without having to package the font files.
