Hi! I have Creative Suite CC and Creative Suite 6 on two different machines. I want to use an Adobe Font (Sofia) on both machines. Uploads and works fine in CC, but can't see how to download for Creative Suite 6. Can I use the font with CS6? The tech people sent me here, claiming they can't help.

As fonts come with CC they are clearly bound to CC. It may be that some fonts come also with a free Adobe id. Those can probably be installed on any computer.

Technically, it would be no problem to copy the font files to a different computer.

CC can be installed on 2 computers but not used concurrently. I suppose this rule includes also the fonts for as long they are not web fonts where probably the limits are differing from the CC applications use.

When you activate a font in Typekit or Adobe Fonts the Creative Suite application downloads the OTF file and installs it in a hidden directory. The font file is on your computer but it is in a place only CC apps know to look.

There are ways to locate the file, make it visible, and install it as a normal font. I do not know if Adobe approves of this action, although I bet they don’t. I will wait for a response from an actual Adobe person before I continue. As always, GIYF.

It’s possible, but you are probably not licensed to use the font on a second computer without CC.

Discussion successfully moved from InDesign to Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit)

Everything can be installed on two machines though the software itself can only be used on one at a time. I do not believe that using the fonts in non CC apps would violate any license.
