Media Encoder 2022 has me losing clients in 2021

I just finished finished editing a complicated project in Premiere Pro. Took three days. The client this is for loves my work. The subject is for a product launch,...TOMORROW MORNING.

 

I followed the same step as I always do, first error was that Media Encoder wasn't installed. ('Nonsense!' I said, 'I used it this morning.') But it was gone, for sure. Media Encoder 2022 was in my CC account page, waiting to be installed, so I loaded it. 

 

And now,...no export of any kind, to Media Encoder or directly to my computer seems to be possible. Closed the project and PP, restarted a few times,...nothing. 

 

I have a lot on the line here. What's going on?

Add me to the list of users who cannot do ANYTHING in Media Encoder since the updates. Every single file format is greyed out; I can't add any media files whatsoever to ME.

 

Of course I can't "roll back" because I've already updated PR and AE. Meanwhile, the latest version of Premiere can't handle AE comps, and crashes if I open a file containing them. 

 

When I search these message boards, I find useless information tagged as "correct answer," which means Adobe support is trying to sweep all their bugs under the rug. How do they keep breaking the basic functionality of the software designed to do these simple tasks, and how long will this take to be fixed?

I have re-installed the previous 2021 version. I re-did all my project back into that version. That works for me. I wont update to 2022 until this forum goes quiet. 🙂

I really feel for you guys & gals out there stuggling, and it was'nt fun to re-do all my work but it was clear that adobe was'nt gonna bother to fix this issue any time soon and I could'nt gamble with my assignemts...

Just here to say, I'm having the same issues. I've trying going to older versions and any other hack. The only thing that works is restarting my computer every 2 renders. It's november and this thread started at the drop of Media Encoder 2022. Please update adobe this is really tough to work through.

I'm going to buy a plugin this cyber monday that exports to .mp4 from After Effects. As it is, I have to export .mov from After Effects and export that file to mp4 in Media Encoder. It takes so much time. No more!

I've always beehn under the impression that AME produces better quality output than After FX rendering.
Am I mistaken?
What's the plugin called?
And is it me but surely an extra render of one file from QT to H.264 isn't a big deal (assuming the quality is okay)?

It's called After Codecs. It's a plugin for sale on aescripts + plugins website. I just got it, so haven't had a chance to test it yet.

this stupid software doesn't even access the AEP file. I imported one that doesn't work, I ended through after effects it doesn't work. Adobe stops F U C K I N G around.

Hey check out Aftercodecs for exporting from After Effects. It's a plugin for sale on aescripts + plugins website. It does mp4 and such without Media Encoder.

I was having the same issue and found a fix. I'm on Windows 10. When I installed CC2022, upon first launch of each new program, Windows would ask me to allow the app to communicate on public and/or private networks. I thought I had chosen to allow on both networks in each scenario, but it looks like I missed that option for AE and AME. Or maybe the prompt didn't come up.

 

 

  • Open Windows Security.

  • Click on Firewall & network protection.

  • Click the Allow an app through firewall option.

  • Click the Change settings button.
  • Check the app or feature you want to allow through the firewall

 

I had to turn on private networks for a lot of my adobe apps. Now AE and AME are working together without a hitch.

I've tried this but to no avail.
I've added the apps to my 'Let through the firewall' page (Premiere, After FX and AME) in Windows 11 Private Networks but AME still hangs 'Connecting to Project' when I try to add an After FX composition.
I CAN add Premiere Pro Sequences though, which is weird.
So frustrating.

You're not saying that I have to something in the apps are you - like enable Private Networks. That seems an odd question, I can't imagine that's the case and how you would do it, but I thought I would ask anyway in case I'm being stupid.

I have a workaround that seems to work (eventually):

1. Cancel render (AME will crash)

2. Reopen AME and remove dud render from queue

3. Clean media cache (Preferences > Media > Media Cache Database > Clean

4. Restart computer and add render compostion to queue again (from After Effects)

5. Repeat steps 1-5 until render works

It's very time consuming but it seems to get there in the end.

This is absolutle annoying. Ive been working on rendering my project now for 9 hrs. Ive unistalled, reinstalled, changed renderer from Metal to Software, Cleaned Cache, going to try and install a later version other than 22.2.
