So I noticed my render times increased dramatically in the last couple of days. I think I noticed on Monday the 8 that a render that would usually take about 40 minutes is now taking 2 hours. So I did a bit of exploring and it seems like it's not actually using my GPU to render I've read other posts and they were all using amd cards I am not so they weren't relavent to my issue.
My system is
i5 9600kf
16gb ram
rtx 2060 most recent driver
like I said before Monday is was using my gpu has an update messed something up?

Are you using the 461.72 Studio Driver?
Don't use the Game Driver.

Hi Bob I am using the game ready driver. Is it possible to switch between drivers normally that really upsets PCs? I'm a streamer is the studio branch is the game one with extras could switching cause serious issues for me?
Also as I said this is a new problem until monday the 8th it was rendering using the gpu quite happily with the game driver for the past few months

The newest versions of Premiere Pro and AME recommend the use of the Studio Driver, not the Game Driver.

Hi again Bob! So I take it from ver. 15 onwards it requires the studio driver but can you answer my question on switching drivers? Would I need to constantly switch driver or will the studio driver work for playing games too?

According to Nvidia, you're fine with either driver. Of course, Premiere Pro preferes the Studio Driver so maybe just go with that.
From Official GeForce Drivers | NVIDIA:
GAME READY DRIVERS VS STUDIO READY DRIVERS
Whether you are playing the hottest new games or working with the latest creative applications, NVIDIA drivers are custom tailored to provide the best possible experience. If you are a gamer who prioritizes day of launch support for the latest games, patches, and DLCs, choose Game Ready Drivers. If you are a content creator who prioritizes reliability for creative workflows including video editing, animation, photography, graphic design, and livestreaming, choose Studio Drivers. Do a little bit of both? No worries, either can support running the best games and creative apps.

Cool thanks Warren! I've switched drivers it's using hardware encoding but it doesn't actually seem to have changed anything it's still incredibly slow and according to task manager its only using 3% of my gpu? if anything it's slower now any help or should I create a new topic?

I am not a gamer, but I believe that the Studio Driver will work for games. It just won't be optimized.
I would suggest that you install the Studio Driver and see if you have any issues with your games.
