AV1 Encoder Support

Community Beginner ,
Aug 01, 2022 Aug 01, 2022
Implement next generation (royalty free) encoder from AV1 within Adobe Media Encoder. Several implementations are out, however it would be great if CC 2020 would make it more user-friendly in their AME GUI. Moreover, an adoption of the AVIF format for digital picture media across their other solutions would be welcomed as well.

This is no longer true, Apple's newest M4 processor has hardware-accelerated AV1 support (it was featured very prominently in the promo materials for the release).

AV1 is reaching espace velocity on its way to wide adoption. Clients are asking for it more and more, and we can't use Adobe. As we've explored the other options to fill the requirements, it's become clear Adobe is no longer the front-runner in video tech. We've been moving to de-couple ourselves from the once-competent Adobe ecosystem that's failed to keep up with the times.

MainConcept powers Adobe Media Encoder codecs.

MainConcept says that our customers are broadcasters and do not use MKV (AV1/Opus) and we do not support it either!
