Please make Adobe Media Encoder less bad.

I'm making an animated GIF and I can't even control the file size.

I speak on behalf of most customers of Adobe Media Encoder when I say we want control over how video formats are encoded. You pitch AME to be a professional tool, with more features than your free competitors, yet I can't even see an estimate of the file size when converting to an animated gif, let alone change the compression ratio.

If you want to catch up with 2023, take a look at open source freeware 'Screen 2 gif' which really makes me wonder why I pay for AME. It's a very different app, but more reliable and does the job it set out to do much better. I can control so much more HOW it encodes - which at the end of the day, is the ONE job AME has.

I need to create a gif for Twitter, and limit is 15mb. AME gives me literally no option to make my very short, simple, low res, minimal colours gif a smaller size. Literally zero control over compression.

Please just speak to us about how we want to convert videos and animations, because you're still pretty far off the mark, even after 15 years and a hefty subscription fee.

Thanks

Welcome to Adobe! Not only the Media Encoder became an absolute disgrace. Most the Adobe software is an unbearable condition. Bugs and flaws get dragged over each versions and everything becomes slower and slower. I wouldn't pay for it if I didn't have to.

While I love Adobe, I am still experiencing the same issue, and it is very frustrating. I also hope that Adobe will include an Estimated File Size for Gif in AME soon. I keep trying to find an easier solution than bringing it into PS and using the Legacy Save to Web tool, which is impractically slow. I'm sure Adobe already is aware of the issue but I just wanted to reiterate that this does continue to slow down my workflow and create issues for fast turnaround with my clients.
