Adobe connect screen share failure

New Here ,
Apr 14, 2025 Apr 14, 2025

Hi!
I am trying to share my screen for a class I am teaching, there are other softwares and apps I want to share during the lesson. But when I share the screen, the students can only see my wallpaper and nothing else.

I am using Adobe Connect on a mac mini with OS 10.15. If I use Adobe connect on the browser it says that I need to download and launch the app in order to share the screen.

Also, I had to download the older version because the newest one was not compatible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@PaulaHC-soundlady macOS Catalina (10.15) introduced enhanced security and privacy features. Applications, including Adobe Connect, need explicit permission from the user to record the screen. If this permission hasn't been granted correctly to the specific version of the Adobe Connect application you are using, it will likely only capture your desktop background as a privacy measure.

The is the most likely culprit is granting screen recording permission. You need to ensure the older version of the Adobe Connect application has permission to record your screen in macOS System Preferences.

  • Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
  • Click on the Privacy tab.
  • In the left-hand sidebar, scroll down and select Screen Recording.

  • Click the lock icon in the bottom-left corner to make changes (you'll need to enter your administrator password).
  • Look for Adobe Connect in the list on the right. Make sure the box next to it is checked.
  • If you don't see Adobe Connect, you might need to add it:
    • Click the "+" (plus) button below the list.
    • Navigate to your Applications folder (or wherever you installed the older Adobe Connect version).
    • Select the Adobe Connect application and click Open.
    • Ensure the box next to the newly added Adobe Connect is checked.
    • Click the lock icon again to save the changes.
    • Restart the Adobe Connect application after making these changes.
