How to stop Adobe XD CC from swiping between artboards?

Community Beginner ,
Aug 31, 2018 Aug 31, 2018

I'm trying to accomplish something that I would think should be simple :S Is there a way to stop XD from swiping between artboards? I have created an Artboard Gallery. In the top right cornor I have a button for a menu overlay that works perfectly. But if I try the Mobil preview and see it on my Iphone I can swipe fleft to get to the menu artboard. I really don't want that. Is there a way to stop the swipe motion between artboards?

There is no way to do this in the current version, but the team is looking towards improving this workflow in future updates. Feel free to post a feature request using this link Adobe XD Feedback : Feature Requests & Bugs

Thanks,

Preran

Hi Kenniaboy,

Thanks for using Adobe XD. Could you please share the link of the prototype so that we test it at our end? I would also like to know if you could share the transition type that you are using.

Thanks,

Atul_Saini

Dear Atul

Here is a working link : Adobe XD CC

Please note that the App works fine online and in the preview. But when I send it to my mobile for checking that's where I can't stop the swiping between certain artboards. I do want it on some of them but I do not want to be able to swipe to my overlay menu.

Thanks for the help

Hey Kenniaboy, sorry for the delay in response. I wasn't able to get through this prototype. It says "Access Restricted" could you please resend the link so that we may check the details clearly?

Regards,

Atul_Saini

Hi, can you please tell us if there is a solution for this, so we can stop looking for solution and waste time?

From what I understand, you want the prototype to move in only one direction without allowing to go back in the reverse direction. I don't think that is possible. Let me know if I did not get your question correctly.

Thanks,

Preran

Hi Preran, my problem is when I show my prototype to my client on the mobile, he just take the phone and swipe between artboards, ignoring all the links I have made. I wonder if there is any solution or action to block this free navigation by swiping right and left. i'ts a mess I don't want him to review the app this way. I just want him to navigate as I designed into the prototype mode. please tell me how i'ts so very important to me, I can't show them my prototype like that for them it's like a project not finished. this swiping ruin my prototype in mobile

I'm having the same issue with my school project. Our team designs an app that navigates through multiple menues. When we give it to the testers, they often swipe to see if something is happening and just go to a random page. It would be great if swiping would be disabled by default and that you should add it via prototype, so you can swipe in all directions and decide where it should go.

But regardless, is there a work around to this? Can we somehow "disable" it? :S

I am open to being corrected, but there is no workaround solution as of now.

Thanks,

I see. Will this be a feature in the future? I've talked to a couple of teachers and other students about this and it seems like a basic / crucial option to have. I don't really want to use a single "none adobe programm" just for app creation, but this issue kinda forces me to as it is just too confusing (especially ofr the testing people) to use apps with the swipe function always enabled.

Thank you for your time.

If you make duplicate pages of everything used in your demo and then use the unwanted default proto connectors to point the duplicates to each other while also making sure to define each of the two triggers for those default transitions as "drag" it seems to eliminate the swipe-to-other-pages problem.  For at least single finger swipes (double and triple fingers still do something).  On Android at least.  You have to duplicate all transitions in/out of the pairs as well for your demo to work as you expect.  How's that for an ugly/limited workaround?

Just to reiterate how bad this is: not once of the 50 user testings we had ppl managed to go through without swiping where they shouldn't. Moving horizontally between artboards is not important on a mobile device, and it messing up animations and interactions every time, users get lost in the app because of this and because they don't know it's not supposed to work like that in the final app they think it's a feature and they keep swiping and all messed up. Not once we managed to get through a demo. Please if you can't add a setting then just disable this. Especially on smaller phones it is just unusable.

We really need this feature. We need swipe to happen when swipe is needed not every time. Please move this to top priority please!
