Linked character styles not recognized

I have a source document with all my colours and character styles, which is linked to my current working document. I also copied a few elements and pages from the source document, in order to edit those for a new part of the design. Which means that all the elements and fonts should be correctly linked together, but when I right click on the font in the document, it does not recognize that that font already exist in the linked character styles.
So, clicking on a font in character styles works fine, but the information somehow gets lost on the way from the font in the document, to recognize it in the character styles.

This means I can not double check if everything is in order, unles I have to do select and edit all the pages and texts manually, which is too much work.

Hi,

Copy/Paste of pages from source document will not recognize the linked character style ,instead they will work as new fonts and get added as Document asset. But if you want this feature to be added in XD, so you can drop your idea here Adobe XD: Feature Requests

and get voted ,depending upon that it can be taken into consideration for customer convenience.

Hello,
do I understand correctly that it is not possible to link colors and character formats between the design system and the target document? How are colors and character formats to be controlled globally if this is not possible via a design system?
I create templates for our products, which I want to control centrally via a design system. Global adjustments of a character format or color don't work with this approach - that makes a design system almost worthless. Only the components can be controlled across multiple documents in one place.
If this is not on your list of feature requests already, please make sure it is added.
Thanks!
