Unable to drag-and-drop images into shapes

I'm not sure if this started happening once I updated XD recently (I'm running 54.1.12 on macOS Monterey 12.5.1) but I'm now unable to drag-and-drop an image directly into a shape and have it auto-mask.

I've looked everywhere for a possible fix, but every post is dated years back. 😞

Update: It's working again! Although not without a few workarounds. I was finally able to use the drag-drop by doing the following in existing documents:

  • Duplicating the intended mask shape within the document
  • Dragging an image into the duplicate shape
    • Seems to work on attempt #2
  • Then dragging the image into the original shape, and voila!

Not sure what's going on here, but I'm happy to say the least.

Hi @kelseyberger, as I see it, there's no such problem dragging an image on a shape and getting it automatically masked on the XD I'm using ( Version: 54.1.12.1 on macOS Monterey 12.5.1) maybe you need to do that tiny update and please let us know, hope this helps!

Hi @AkinGn! Unfortunately I'm not seeing an option to update to the .1 newer version. Creative Cloud is showing my XD as fully up to date.

Hi @kelseyberger, glad it's working and I'll also keep that in mind if it doesn't work for me anytime, thanks for sharing!
