I keep getting this Adobe After Effects error message. I've tried everything, but it seems like nothing works when I am using the camera tracking. It doesn't even star the tracking process, it's stuck in "Initializing".
I have an iMac, 24 inch, 16Gb RAM, most of the memory is for Adobe After Effects and it still doesn't work.

Could you please help me out? I have a deadline for a project.

Thank you!

Apologies about the delay in response to the issue you’re experiencing.  I just came across this post today.

Are you still encountering the failure to initialize the 3D camera tracker? If so, please let us know what version of Ae is exhibiting the failure.

Thanks.

Here are some additional steps and troubleshooting procedures to try. Hopefully one of these potential solutions will get the 3D Camera Tracker working for you. If not, the additional info you provide could help us to isolate the root cause of the failure.  Thanks.

Log Files

Please send us the AnalysisSelfLink and LiveLink Log text files:

  1. Help menu > Enable Logging
  2. Restart Ae.
  3. Attempt to use the 3D Camera Tracker (Tracker Panel >Track Camera).
  4. If tracker fails, locate the log files stored in the Ae preferences directory and share them with us:
  • Help menu > Reveal Logging File

3rd Party Plugins

  1. Start Ae in Safe Mode
  2. Ae  Preferences/Settings > Startup & Repair > Repair Option > Click the Start in Safe Mode button > Restart Ae.
  3. After restarting Ae, during app start up, when the Starting in Safe Mode dialog opens, click the check box "Disable 3rd party plugins during session".
  4. After Ae loads, attempt to use the 3D Camera Tracker.
If problem goes away, then you’ll need to isolate which 3rd party effect is causing the failure and remove it when using the camera tracker. And if successful, please let us know which effect is preventing the tracker from working.

Adobe Analysis Server
See if you can manually launch the Adobe Analysis Server

  1. On macOS,  Control Click on the Adobe After Effects application icon, select Show Package Contents from the Context menu, then open the Contents folder.
    2. On Win, open the Adobe After Effects application folder, then open the Support Files folder.
    3. Double Click on the Adobe Analysis Server application icon.
    4. Open the Activity Monitor (Mac) or Task Manager (Win) and verify if Adobe Analysis Server process is running.
Please let us know if Adobe Analysis Server fails to load.

Disk Permissions
On macOS, there could be an issue with permissions and access to folders that After Effects requires to run. These include:

  • /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore
  • /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/[Version]
  • /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/[com.Adobe.After Effects.23x-24.plist(s)]

To check for the appropriate permissions:

  1. Navigate to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0
  • Right-click on the MediaCore folder and choose Get Info from the context menu.
  • Open the Sharing & Permissions section and make sure “everyone” has at least Read Only Privilege set.
  • If the account you are launching After Effects with is listed in the Name column, make sure it has at least the Read Privilege set as well.

2. Navigate to /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/

    • Right-click on the appropriate [Version] folder and choose Get Info from the context menu.
    • Ensure Locked is not checked. Uncheck it if necessary.
    • Open the Sharing & Permissions section and ensure the account you using to launch After Effects has both the Read & Write Privilege.

If after completing disk permissions steps 1 & 2 and Tracker still fails, please make a backup of the above folders, then delete the folders at the paths above. Then uninstall and re-install After Effects.
