Hi beta users!
Beginning in version 25.0x19 of After Effects Beta, we’re changing the way 3D models are imported into the Project panel.
Some 3D model formats (.gltf and .obj) rely on additional external files to render, e.g. .mtl or .bin. Previously, After Effects imported those linked files alongside the main model file and everything was stored together in a folder.
Now, After Effects Beta will manage those external dependencies automatically behind the scenes, so you will no longer see them in the Project panel. You will just see the .gltf or .obj model on its own. Dependent files will still be collected as needed if you Collect Files.
Please give this new functionality a try and let us know how it’s working for you.
