AIR export from Animate CC in the future

Engaged ,

Hello there.

With the news of HARMAN taking over AIR runtime from Adobe, I am concerned with Animate CC handling of SWF and AIR packaging.

Exporting and debugging SWF and AIR apps from Animate CC is vital and streamlines our workflow incredibly well.

Do you plan to keep this feature alive in the future? I wish to suggest to keep and maintain AIR packaging.

I do keep a CC subscription alive only because of this feature, whether Animate CC should remove AIR packaging features I will probably cancel the subscription.

Thank you very much to the Animate team.

I heard back from the team, and there are no changes to the existing support for the AIR-Adobe Animate workflow. The team will work with Harman on the way forward.

I hope that answers this question.

Thanks,

Preran

I agree that it is extremely important to keep the possibility of exporting and debugging Animate SWF and AIR applications, this is really vital and even streamlines our workflow.

I, too, see reasons to keep my signature and encourage other AIR developers to do the same as long as we have AIR available in Adobe Animate.

With new 64bit support for mobile devices, AIR and Animate tend to gain new developers as they work together, I do not think it would be feasible for anyone to remove features or capabilities already achieved by these two tools.

I hope to continue counting on the Animate team that over the years has been able to integrate AIR in a great way together with its other resources.

Preran promised to find out and get back to us. Hopefully we will be able to continue using AIR with Animate. It’s essential for us as well.

Preran,

Thanks, we use Animate and Air together to export iOS, Android apps and need this workflow moving forward.  My hope is that after Flash Player web support is over, we will still be able to export SWF files that can be used within AIR apps as externally loaded files.

There are a LOT of developers and publishers using Adobe Animate and Air to publish apps for IOS and android.

On our end, we believe it is still the best and most intuitive development software for our purpose.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to be able to rely on Animate CC / Air to develop, update and maintain our apps for ourselves and our clients for the foreseeable future.

You may want to even alert higher-up people that many of us subscribe to Adobe CC in order to get access to Photoshop + Animate.

If AIR disappears from Animate, some of us will downgrade to Photoshop only subscriptions. So there is a financial incentive to keep this small but important feature in Animate.

thanks for your consideration.

I think the team completely gets this. I don't see any reason for concern based on what I have heard from the team.

Thanks,

Preran
