Animate exports huge animated gif files in very poor quality

Hi, I am trying to create a web banner in Animate. The .fla file is 2.2 MB and it contains 1 small image plus text. The exported .gif file is over 8 MB and the text is all pixelated and very bad quality. Can this be right?

I've tried to attache the .fla file in case someone would like to look at it, but got the following error message: The attachment's test_animation.fla content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.

Would appreciate any help. Many thanks.

Attila

What are the dimensions of the gif in pixels? Gif file sizes tend to be big and the quality subpar but that's most likely an issue with the format, not Animate. Vector data is lighter than the equivalent in pixels, gifs will always be heavier than the FLA no matter what.

To improve the quality, increase the stage size in pixels, adjust the number of colors, the type of dithering and to reduce the file size use a tool like ezgif to compress it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

My gif is 300x250 pixels, this is one of the standard sizes for a Google Banner Ad. The colours are set to 256 and tried all the different dithering options, but no change.

On the other hand ezgif managed to reduce the size of the gig considerably, so thank you for suggesting it.

In the meantime I started testing Filmora and managed to achieve a much better quaity gif and smaller file size, so I think I will stick with that.

and as you can see I've managed to upload the gif file from Animate so you can see what I mean.

Glad you found a solution for it. Could you post the comparisson gif from Filmora? I'm curious about the difference in quality at the same resolution.

I'm still on the test version so a watermark is added to the gif animation but the text looks a lot clearer than in the Animate gif.
