Animate to Flash CS5 and back to Animate?

Hey, I'm beginning work on a final for an animation course at my school. I use Animate CC, but my school is still using Flash CS5. Am I able to keep the same .fla and open in both programs back and forth?

Make the file in Animate, work on it, then save. Take it on a flash drive or something. Then work on it with CS5, save. And then open and work on it again using Animate. Rinse and repeat.

This possible?

No, Animate files can only be read with CS5.5 or later. But, if you have Animate CC you should be able to do a download of previous versions, back as far as CS6, which can save out CS5 compatible files.

Animate is compatible with CS6 too, so if you like working in Animate (say because it's a lot faster than CS6 or CS5) you could open the CS5 file in Animate, do your changes at home, open the new file in CS6, and Save As to CS5 to get a file to take back to school.

You should watch out for things that CS5 could do that Animate can't. For example ActionScript 2, or TLF text fields. But if you're just animating you should be ok.

Yeah I was afraid of that, only problem with Me downgrading is any past versions of flash I've tried (cs6-cs4) is that there's driver conflicts with it and my tablet (surface pro 1 with wacom feel it drivers) animate cc has been the only program to fix it.

Under one of my suggestions that wouldn't be a problem. You would do all of your work in Animate, and only use CS6 to do the conversion of the file to CS5. You can have both Animate and CS6 running at the same time.
