Animate won't save, sends error and tries to quit app but asks me to save again

Just downloaded Adobe Animate on my computer, made a new project and started working. After a while, I found that if I tried to click Save As, Save All, or Save it would send me an error message saying "Unknown error; quitting application". I click "Ok", as that's the only thing I can do. After that, it gives me that reminder of "Save changes to [project name]?" with my only three options being "Yes", "No", and "Cancel". Clicking "Yes" puts me back to the error message in a loop, clicking "No" simply has the app close and my progress gone forever because it wasn't saved, clicking "Cancel" just puts be back on the canvas like I hadn't tried to save in the first place

I have no idea what's going on here, and I'd love to be able to properly use Animate without having to do it all in one sitting or leaving the program running in the background when I'm not working on it and praying that my computer doesn't crash or suddenly update. Any advice on how to try and find the source of the problem, or letting me know the actual problem with it, would be much appreciated

Thanks

Found a solution!

Most of these exact errors popping up were answered with "reset your preferences" which didn't work at all for me, no matter how i interpreted the instructions from several of those forums. BUT, I did find one older forum with a solution that's both easy and works! https://community.adobe.com/t5/animate-discussions/on-save-animate-says-unknown-error-quiting-application/td-p/10884889

Basically, you need to save your work as a template (it can be named anything). That's literally it. Once you save it as a template, you can save it whenever you want!! I don't know what magic this does (it might be automatically saving in the wrong folder? just a guess) but it works
