Background Problem in Animation Video?

Community Beginner ,
Jun 29, 2025 Jun 29, 2025

I am trying to create videos in Animate (Adobe Animate 2024) to bring into Photoshop for an animated video. I have done this before very successfully but I don’t recall how!

I am creating movie clip symbols with a transparent background using alpha 0 in the Properties, and Exporting the file as Video/Media.

When I export the movie from Animate it creates a black background! I do not understand why! What is going wrong?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

using the community is about forum questions.  animate forum is for animate questions.

AME has the file in there in the queue. It says "Ready". The name above the queue link starts with TMP.
How do I know what to check or uncheck in AME settings besides NOT making it automatically render when I export?

It says Default (AME).
I read something on another post about NOT checking Adobe Media Encoder.
I tried that on a test and then it worked better!
But I just tried it again & now it is not even outputting the MOV file even
tho' it says it is!

BTW, I am using AME 2025 & Animate 2024.
Now, if I use the queue to render, the MOV renders with a black background & does not show the animation.

I did that already. Over & Over! I am so frustrated! It just makes a black background and sometimes the animation i created does not animate!
And when it saves I have to render it again in the AME or it does not open.
Here's what the MOV using quicktime looks like:
This is not what it is supposed to look like! And it does not animate, but when I test the Animate file it does.
And here is what the AME queue looks like for this:

I think I may be getting ready to give up and just do the animation in Photoshop, even tho' tweens are more difficult. I can bring vectors in from Illustrator sometimes.

when exporting are you opting for a transparent background in the export dialog?

Yes. Every time in Exporting and in Properties of the file too. And I have NEVER specified a black background.
