There's a bug on Macromedia Flash 8 where if I distribute various symbols to layers, some of the symbols disappear, and sometimes I get an error saying "could not complete this operation because of an unknown error". I'm confused because this bug has never happened before. Any tips would be helpful. Here's a demo of the bug;

If you are running other programs in the background, close them and try again.

It is known that some programs such as Open Office, Virtual Box or others can 'steal' bits from the system clipboard and cause these types of issues.

Another possible cause for random behaviour is a damaged RAM chip.

Thank you! I had an application that automatically pastes links that I highlighted. I didn't know it interfered with Flash 8 🙂

@kglad

We've known of the 'leaky' clipboard for years. It is easily reproducible in all versions of Flash, not so much in Animate.
