Ever since I have been on a new mac with an M1 chip, Monterey, I cannot export MP4. That is it makes the file, but it is all black, looks like an empty quick time icon, no preview.
With the same file, same versions of Animate and Encoder, same setting, my old mac exports it. I am using the export to MP4 in the upper right UI but I tried both ways.
Someone, please help!!!

Hi @lucykafka !
an other M1 on monterey. macbook pro here.
For diferent reasons I get ride of the Animate 2022 version and back to 2021,
I've to have opened Adobe Media Encoder (in my case 2022) before exporting any video from Animate or otherwise I got all black, empty quicktime icon no preview file.
I'm pretty sure you have tested this, with Media Encoder opened but in case you don't, here is what solved my problem.

Can you please share below details with us to pin point the issue ?
1. Version details of Animate and Media encoder in which you facing the issue
2. Does uninstallation and installation of Animate and media encoder resolves the issue ?
Also please share the sample file or video recording with us to investigate.
You can share the sample file/video recording at artanwar@adobe.com

I tried both the latest version of 22.0.8 and the latest version of Encoder. (both apps say "up to date") But I also tried uninstalling and installing the 21 version for both apps. That didn't help.
The only thing I am doing differently from previous times when it worked is that now I am on a new M1 chip with Monterey installed.

As a troubleshooting step, try opening one of the Learn files, like Pig Run, and send that Media Encoder.
Under macOS Montere 12.5.1 with Animate 22.0.8 and Media Encoder 22.6, File > Export > Export Video/Media... works as expected for H264 - even at the non-standard frame size of the Pig Run Scene.
I did have to open Media Encoder prior to sending the Scene from Animate, but it doens't sound like you're having trouble with that part.
