Convert Actionscript 2.0 content to Actionscript 3.0

Explorer ,
Feb 18, 2022 Feb 18, 2022

I opened my Flash fla file in Animate and received this message:

IMG_4146.jpgexpand image
I believe because of this one part of the animation doesn't work in Animate, the stars are there but they don't appear when I play the movie inside Animate nor when I export the file.
I'm a graphic designer, I know little about programming. Please help

Hi.

It means you're trying to open an ActionScript 2.0 document and Adobe Animate doesn't support this document type.

You're gonna have to install Flash CS6 at least to open it or convert the code to ActionScript 3.0.

Regards,

JC

Thank you, JC. I can open my file in Animate. I believe it is automatically converted to Actionscript 3.0. The problem is that parts of the animation just don't work. Probably because I need to change something in "Actions", and I'm not sure how to do it, I'm not good in programming.... I'll try to create a new file, copy the layers that work and recreate the parts that don't work from scratch. Will it work?

Regards,

Maria

You are probably going to have to recode it in AS3.

@ch_ez

1. you can install the latest and 1 version prior versions using the cc desktop app. you must have a subscription because previous versions are not available with trials. other versions are revealed after clicking file preferences>apps>tick show older apps (at panel bottom).

2. for versions cc 2019 and older, use prodesigntools.com*.

3. for versions newer than cc 2019 but older than one previous version, contact adobe support for links.**

---------------------------------------------------------------
* most (but not all) adobe download links are available from prodesigntools.com. https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-direct-download-links.html

follow the directions (esp, step 1)

save the install file. it may not remain online.

thank jim @ prodesigntools.com

** there are 2 ways to contact adobe; chat and twitter:

chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies, and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

twitter:
tweet @AdobeCare

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. ie, double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an adobe.com domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. then check again and be very suspicious. any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam,
