Default Assets in Animate CC not available, cloud icon not activated.

I'm a beginner and trying to follow a series of LinkedIn tutorials to learn how to make simple animations. In the early stages of the series, the LinkedIn tutor points us learners to Default Assets in the Asset Panel. Indeed, so does the in-app instructional video.
HOWEVER, when it comes to my Default Assets, there is only one. Also, if you look closely you can see that the cloud icon is greyed out which means it ain't working.
Can someone please tell me how I'm meant to get those default assets into the Assets panel. I have honestly tried everything; being connected to internet, being logged in, and lots of other fiddling around. I notice a few other people have had problems with this. Can someone please tell me which folder I should try to upload and how I might be able to link to it?

Hi.
The assets are being displayed correctly for me. I'm using the latest version (23.0).
Which version of Animate are you using?
Please let us know.
Regards,
JC

Hi there Joao, I'm using 23.0
Just to clarify, if I'm talking about Creative Cloud (CC), which updates automatically, wouldn't that be the latest version?
The problems I'm having may be caused by being in Australia where the internet virtually doesn't work due to having very slow outdated network infrastructure.
Thanks for your response though and hope you're having a happy new year.
Liz

Hi there, I'm trying to get assets into the Animate library, either the default files or custom files from my own folders but nothing is possible. I've looked up various info web pages about files that can be uploaded and they say jpegs, png files can be uploaded as static files, but when I come to chose files from my computer none of them are able to be chosen
Do they need to be a specific file type? If so, can you tell me how to convert them to the right file type?

what tutorial are you unable to follow?
what graphic or sound file type are you unable to import into animate?

I can't follow any tutorials because they require use of the default assets.
I guess I can't import jpeg or png files. I'm not trying to use sound files atm

I think I'll give up for the time being so don't worry about responding anymore. I think I've got issues with my laptop not really being up for the job - not powerful enough I'm thinking...

it can take quite a while for those assets to load. and you may need to close and reopen animate for them to appear. ie, if you open animate and leave it open for a day, it can download most or all the assets. but they won't appear until you close and reopen animate.
(and my cloud icon is grayed-out and unclickable, too .)

I wasn't aware of this. That's too bad. The UI should provide some visual feedback so the user knows the assets are being loaded. And it seems to be the same loading problem from the web fonts window.

it would probably take a few sentences (pretty much what i wrote in my first post here) to explain. a simple animated gif wouldn't work.
but yes, i agree. it wouldn't take much to add those sentences.

i just read this from adobe's animate assets page:
You can download assets from Animate server by clicking Cloud icon at the lower-left corner of Default tab. Assets are downloaded in small batches. Click the Cloud icon multiple times to download more assets. Once all assets from the server are downloaded, the cloud icon is disabled.
so, i'm not sure why the op's cloud icon is unclickable. though i deleted and asset, restarted my animate and my cloud icon is still grayed out.

Hi kglad, thanks for your responses. Hope you're having a happy start to the year. Like you said, the instructions from Adobe about downloading assets don't address the problem of the cloud icon being unclickable.
Also I'm not having any luck importing any other assets into the custom library either. So I'm not able to move forward with learning how to use Animate at the moment.
Perhaps there's another animation software out there, since it's not possible to get anywhere with Animate?
Cheers, Liz

Try this way. Close Animate. Then open. Create a new file. At the bottom of the settings to create a new file scroll to the bottom until you see the bouncing pig and then click on it to open.
