Hey all!
I started out with Flash back in 2002 or so and spent at least 10 years with it. I am a designer myself. So coding is not something I am good at, worth mentioning that.
Just very recently i installed Adobe Animate and was amazed as to how much it still is like flash. Been a long time since I had used flash so was able to get going very swiftly with Animate.
My biggest concern now with using Animate is being able to use my animations on the web. One of the developers who works for the same company I do
did have this to say from some animation exports i did:
"What puzzles me personally is that the adobe generated code is quite garbage-y and too bloated so I have a hard time imagining this is how we should deploy it.
At the same time I understand the centiment and need for a designer friendly tool for you, and how to use one to collaborate better. Basically, we care how to export said animations in a somewhat performant way, so that we don’t spit out multiple mega bytes of javascript."
So for me the plus's with animate are basiclally not having to learn a new software as its so familiar to flash. However I would still like to know is there anything out there currently which would be a better option that Animate and is catered perhaps more to designers than hardcore coders. Great to get some pointers thank you!

Hi Christian,
I'm very much interested what others would reply to your inquiry...
Just one question: If I understand correctly, your animations don't seem to be interactive. Is this correct?
If they are linear movies are you not considering rendering them as video (MP4) to be a viable option? You can embed those videos anywhere on the web.
Maybe you should give more specific info about the type of animations you do.
Best regards
NT

Hey there!
Thanks for reply. Actually some of the animations I will do will require maybe a click. So they would be quite basic looped animations that may link elsewhere. So some simple interactions.

I'd be interested to know what the actual size of your JavaScript file is on average.

Animate is flash. It's not a new program or replacement. They just changed the name and add a whole lot of cool features. I would say if you don't like ActionScript 3 then just use javascript. Flash now called animate has the capability to use javascript.
I am biased. I have used Flash now called animate for a long time and I love it. It has suited me well for developing apps, animations, banner ads, widgets and web parts for websites. There is other software out there but nothing like Adobe Animate. Because adobe animate is a multi-function software. Mean there are so many things you can do with it. You want to make a game. Make a game. You want to develop an app. Make an app. You want to build a website. Build a website. You want to make banner ads, make them. you want to create animated shorts, or shows, go for it. There are many cartoons created with animate. Here is a list of tv shows made in flash now called animate. List of Flash animated television series - Wikipedia

Without giving too much away, there are lots of exciting features coming your way this year with Adobe Animate. There's plenty of reasons to stay invested in Adobe Animate CC.
Thanks,

Don't trust anyone who says "performant" unironically.
