Exit Edit mode in Adobe Animate CC

New Here ,
Sep 07, 2018 Sep 07, 2018

How do I exit "isolation mode" in Animate? I can't seem to find what it is called, or similar question threads.

I have an item double clicked with the selection tool, and everything else is muted and unavailable. The escape key does not do it.

Thank you!

Uh, do you mean edit mode?

Just double-click somewhere else. Or click the breadcrumb menu above the stage.

I'm not sure why you tagged this thread "isolation mode" when you already know there's nothing called that in Animate.

Double-clicking doesn't do anything for me.  It used to be you could just use the hot key for edit selected again and it would take you back out.  Now I have to go ALL the way out to the stage.  If I'm working with nested symbols, it's a pain to get back to where I was.  This is just one more thing in an ever-growing list of reasons why I can't stand Adobe and how for the last several years their software UNimproves over time.  Gonna learn ToonBoom finally and get the F outta here for good.

if you're in a nested symbol, it takes one click to go to any ancestor.  the image below shows editing symbol 2 (a child of symbol 1 which is a child of the main timeline). click the parent or grandparent to go where you want.
