Flash CS6 problem

New Here ,
Nov 11, 2019 Nov 11, 2019

I still use Flash CS6 as I'm very comfortable with the program.

However lately whenever I choose "import to stage" or to "library", the program immediately crashes. It doesn't even give the option to select a file. It simply loads a little, then disappears.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Thank you in advance.

You definitely don't want to erase your Macintosh HD. I'm talking about a drive connected to USB. You could use it for extra storage, and just for putting Flash Pro CS6 onto, so that you can then import without crashing.

This is a problem with APFS drives. You can work around the issue by putting Flash Pro CS6 onto an external HFS+ drive.

Thank you for the quick response!

I'm embarrassed to say I know little of software and hardware related issues. I don't understand the difference between APFS and an HFS+ drive. How can I achieve this?

If you have an external drive that you can wipe, you would use Disk Utility, and erase the drive as being Mac OS Extended (Journaled), instead of APFS. Then when it's wiped, copy the Adobe Flash CS6 folder onto the drive, and run Flash Pro from there.

I have a new problem now. I've made a USB an HFS+ drive, put when I open flash it doesn't open and prompts to check that I have the correct hardware installed on Mac to open. But it opens fine on my computer with my APFS drive.

Will I have better luck with an external hard drive?
